Position Title: Title: Shelver, temporary part-time, Adult Services

Description: Adult Services is seeking a friendly, helpful, knowledgeable Shelver, part-time. This temporary position will run through September 30, 2016.

If your skills include precise detail work, putting items where they're supposed to be, and making order out of chaos, this job is for you! This position involves putting returned library materials in the right place on the shelf for others to use. Accuracy is a must.

The shelver combines multiple carts containing a mix of books into carts of similar items that are in alphabetical or numerical order. These carts are then pushed to the shelves and the items put away. Additionally, the shelver checks that items already on the shelf are in correct order and straightens that area.

The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented person. An enjoyment of working with people and providing excellent service are also key. A necessary ability is to effectively communicate with coworkers and customers including listening, speaking, and comprehension.

Duties:

  • Accurately sort and shelve returned library materials
  • Accurately check that previously shelved items are in correct order and neat
  • Provide top quality, customer-focused interactions to customers of all ages who visit the library
  • Successfully fulfill customer needs
  • Utilize the library's email system
  • Assist with shelving in other departments when there is a need
  • Additional projects may include tasks such as processing materials being removed from the collection

Hours: 15 per week, to include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. The hours of this position change as departmental needs change.

Education: Enrolled in High School or High School Graduate. Must be at least 16 years of age.

Salary: $ 9.16 per hour

Position Title: Library Assistant, part-time, Circulation and Outreach Services

Description: Our Check Out desk is busy! We are looking for someone who loves to work with all kinds of people and provide them with excellent service. The position involves helping customers with self check and self return systems, accessing the catalog, finding items, negotiating fees, issuing new accounts, shelving books and other materials, and more. Must be able to effectively communicate with customers (in person, over the phone, and via email), including listening, speaking, and comprehension. Position Title: Volunteer
Department: Book Shoppe

Your public library needs you!! Business is great and we want to make you a partner in the excitement. We are looking for detail-oriented, friendly individuals to volunteer in our used Book Shoppe. If you want retail experience, you can help price and re-stock our shelves once or twice a week; if you want a little more physical activity, we need help sorting and collecting books on our monthly Saturday Donation Days. If you love action and people, we have a "job" for you!

Requirements:

Open Volunteer Position

Position Title: Movie Host
Department: Adult Services

Lights…Camera…Action!
Are you a movie buff looking for a volunteer opportunity? If that's the case, Movie Host might just be the volunteer opportunity you've been seeking.

Duties of the Movie Host include:

  • Host movie showings at the library
  • Pop and bag popcorn and clean the popcorn machine
  • Greet movie watchers
  • Report any problems to staff
  • Count the number of customers in attendance
  • Report the attendance number to Adult Services Desk staff
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
